Help me help you help others!

The Workers’ Bowl is an annual charity event by the Ontario Employment Education & Research Centre and the Workers’ Action Centre:Â
- OEERC helps increase public awareness of workplace legislation and provides strategic support to workers whose rights have been violated. They also provide the organizational infrastructure for some of the most important social justice groups in Toronto.Â
- WAC is a worker organization focused on improving the lives and working conditions of people in low-wage and unstable employment. Members include new immigrants, workers of colour and the under/unemployed.
They have tons of cool programs and success stories such as:Â
- Co-organized a large-scale family-friendly event at Christie Pits to overwhelm an anti-immigration rally.Â
- Low/no cost event space in downtown Toronto used by many other social justice organizations.Â
- Created a group focused on South Asian truck drivers to provide them with education on employment laws and build collective power.Â
- Free telephone hotlines and in-person clinics where workers can receive help in seven different languages.Â
- A Day of the Dead event for the Latinx community with free food, clothing and Spanish-language flyers on workers’ rights.Â
- ESL classes that use reading materials such as the Employment Standards Act so that community members can learn English and their rights at the same time.Â
- Research showing that bad bosses have stolen over $60 million from workers’ paycheques.
I’m not great at bowling but maybe with your help I could be great at fundraising?Â
If you’re unsure how much to donate just think what you’ll be spending on presents during the upcoming holiday season. I recommend you donate that amount and for your holiday gift simply print out a photo of the donation! Just imagine how happy the recipients will be!Â
But srsly, thank you for any amount you’re able to donate and thank you for at least reading all of this verbage.Â
- Phill

Good Luck Philip!
